NJGSWL Starting Instructions
Please review the orientation information and remember this page if you have questions in the future. Although many aspect of NJGSWL are meant to be obvious and intuitive, these items are important.

Some things before you get started

• The site was designed and tested in Dreamweaver MX in tandem with Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.

  Although it is probably 99% safe for Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox and other browsers, I would ask that you stay with Internet Explorer so if something does go wrong at least I am only looking at one platform.

• When possible I have eliminated any typing.

  The [TAB] and the [UP & DOWN ARROW] are your keys to success! There are many drop down boxes here to help you make choices. In the internet, the boxes will go to the value that starts with the letter you type. For example if there is a list of last names and you type 'S' it will take past all of the names before 'S' and bring you to the first match with a last name of 'S'.

If you have one of those wheel thingys on your mouse they will also scroll the names, BUT be careful that you don't scroll in a control by accident.

• Go with the flow!

  Much of the entry is automated to point where it fills in many of the controls for you. Please try your best to stay with the order presented. You can always enter any box and change the value, but it may affect how the rest of the record is filled out. Take a look at the relationships to league seed points and match points to make sure there is still the balance. This is especially important if you are correcting a mistake in entry.

• Please read the entire information posted here before doing anything. 99% of the entry is based on your [TAB] and [ARROW] keys.

  Match Entry Information:

  There are some not-so-obvious elements here that are simple but you will need to know they exist in order to make your entries.

  What to do if there is a Forfeit?

  To enter a home team forfeit, choose ‘forfeit’ in the home player name box. This will set a small program in motion. There is a question that will follow “Is this a double forfeit?”

  There is no YES/NO in JavaScript so please read the box carefully and check OK/CANCEL appropriately.

  To enter visiting team forfeit, enter the home team wrestler and then choose ‘forfeit’ in the visiting column. When you tab out of the box it will trigger a small program and fill out the remaining elements on the form. You can then click NEXT or press the enter key to advance to the next record.

  How do I enter the information if either of the Players Pin His/Her Opponent?

  Regardless of the winner the entry is done in the home team bout score. Choose the home team bout score button and type ‘P’. This will display PIN (WIN) in the window. If the home team lost then move to the next line for PIN (LOSS) When you have completed your choice, PRESS THE TAB KEY. This will also set a small program in motion that will update all of the appropriate fields.

  Injury Default

  Injury Default is similar to the Pin in that you select the outcome on the home bout score and it will set things in motion.

  Team Point Deduction

  Please send Keith and email if you have a team point taken away and he will let you know how to work that in or fix it himself.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

If the match was decided on score and not on one of the above, results are tabulated when you PRESS THE TAB KEY to leave the visiting team score box.

 

In every case you shouldn’t have to go past entering in the wrestlers and the match score. When you tab out of the visiting wrestlers match score the remaining fields will update and focus will shift to the NEXT button. From there just press ENTER or click the button to advance.
